What is the FOSDEM Code of Conduct?

What to do if you witness or experience a Code of Conduct violation

Section titled “As a volunteer”-
Ensure immediate safety
- If someone is in danger, prioritize their safety, without putting yourself at risk
- Move to a safe, populated area if needed

Ask the behaviour to stop (if safe to do so)
- You can say: “That’s not appropriate” or “Please stop”
- You are not required to confront anyone if you’re uncomfortable

Report it immediately
- Contact the CoC team (see contact info below)
- Or find any staff member to help you report it
- You can report anonymously

Document what happened (if possible)
- Note the time and location
- Write down what you witnessed
- Identify any other witnesses

Provide support to the affected person until help arrives
- Ask if they’re okay and what they need
- Stay with them if they want company
- Help them contact the CoC team if they wish
